NOTES
1). HENRY PERONNEAU III Henry,2 Henryl was born betwee n 1728 when his parents were married. and 1752, when he wa s mentioned in the will of his grandfather, Col Arthur Hall . He lived in St. Philip s Parish, Charleston where he bec ame a successful merchant and was prominent in local affair s, serving as a commissioner and justice of the peace. Unli ke other members of the family, Henry Peronneau was an Angl ican, and owned a pew in St Michael s Church. He was elect ed to the Royal Assembly in 1765, and served as Public Trea surer of the Colony from 1770 to 1776. A staunch loyalist , Henry Peronneau was banished from South Carolina for refu sing to take an oath of allegiance to the new government i n 1777, and took refuge in London. He returned to Charlesto n in 1781, but upon evacuation of the British troops in 178 2, he returned to England and settled permanently. Henry Peronneau married on May 14, 1752, Anne Motte, bor n April 3, 1734, daughter of Jacob Motte and Elizabeth Mart in. They apparently had no children. Henry Peronneau died i n England on September 9, 1786, survived by his wife Anne . In his will dated July 29, 1786, and proved November l5 , 1786, he left his estate to his wife and to his nieces an d nephews.
