NOTES
1). James H. Rion graduated from the South Carolina College i n 1850 and taught mathematics at Mount Zion Institute. He w as also an attorney. When South Carolina seceded, he was ap pointed Colonel, but was defeated in an election of office rs when the regiment reorganized when the confederacy was f ormed.
