1). !First found living with father in Santa Clara County, CA age 18, in 1860 census p. 503 . Listed in Santa Clara township in 1880 ed 251, sheet 18 . Appeared in Sonoma County Great Registers of 1884 through 1896, a fruitgrower, living in Santa Rosa. In 1892 his physical description is given as 5 11 , fair complexion, gray eyes, brown hair, scar on left cheek. In 1900 he was found in Berkeley, Alameda County ed 398 sheet 15 . On 30 December 1922, he wrote his Memoirs of Travel, an 8 page detailed account of the trip made by his parents together with the Rucker, Lovell and Campbell families from Saline County, MO to San Jose, CA. This Campbell family is the one for whom Campbell, CA was named LDS film . Diary submitted by Alton L. Alderman, MD, Box 299, Athena, OR, 97813. Married 1 Mary Elizabeth Hicks, 20 December 1866 she died 1872, no issue. Newton and Kate moved to Sonoma County in 1882, near Santa Rosa, after birth of their two children. He was a pioneer prune grower. Moved to Berkeley in 1899 returned to Santa Clara about 1910 where he died. from Cynthiana Finley Elliott, 5378 Elaine Court, Castro Valley, CA 94546 letter dated 14 January 1992 .
